Life sketches

So, it’s been awhile since I last posted. Sad to say I haven’t had any new projects to show off. We’ve all been stressing out about the next anatomy exam that is this friday as well as assignment three that is due tuesday. I took a break from all that today and did some overdue five minute sketches. Last week we had figure drawing for anatomical visualization. Tuesday we drew the male figure and Thursday was supposed to be the female figure, however the model didn’t show up. I ended up volunteering to pose for the five minute sketches (fully clothed mind you). It was cool though took some willpower to stay still when my muscles started twitching and my hands got tingling. So, because I didn’t sketch I thought I should do it on my own time. Below are those sketches based off of some fashion photography.

Narrative

So here is my final narrative. I just scanned in my sketches, painted them in photoshop then did the layout in illustrator. Overall I got good feedback. The one thing I have to change is the young woman. I didn’t think about it (mainly because I used my aunt as a reference and she was pretty young when she got her dentures) but the target audience would be older. I will say it was pretty cool to see everybody’s narrative. There was some really great work.

Heart Sketch

I’ve already began working on assignment three for Anatomical Visualization. For part of the assignment we have to illustrate the heart. We are using the hearts from our cadavers in anatomy as part of our subject. This is my first sketch that I did today. There isn’t a whole lot of value (the purpose of assignment three is light and form) but I just wanted to get the rough idea. Also this is the posterior view.

Assignment Two

Today was the final critique of our second assignment in Anatomical Visualization. For this assignment we focused on perspective and how it relates to anatomy. There was a total of three drawings. In the first drawing (which is the first image below) we had to illustrate the skeletal components of the knee joint in two-point perspective with pencil. In the second drawing (second below) we had to use the same view as the first drawing and illustrate the mid-sagittal section of the knee. The last illustration explains the concept of flexion and extension. This probably wasn’t my favorite assignment only because I was continually running into problems. I had trouble constructing the box at first, had to redraw the mid-sagittal view many times and wasn’t quite sure where to put the patella in flexion. Turns out I still had a few mistakes here and there. At least I now know what to look out for when I draw the knee again.

Infographic

In my Instructional Design class we had to do an individual and group infographic. We were essentially given a chart of statistics and had to create a graphic representation of said statistics. For my group infographic we did causes of death in American women and received some very positive feedback. The image below is my individual infographic and like it says, it’s about cardiovascular disease in men. Haven’t received any feedback yet, but as of now I’m happy with it.
